Back in September 2008, I made a prediction that the Republican candidate for president in 2012 would be one of the following: Bobby Jindal, Mark Sanford, Sarah Palin, or Mike Pence. Today, the only change I might make would be to add James Inhofe to the group.
SC Governor Mark Sanford's candidacy has been damaged his candidacy by his extra-marital affair. Some pundits believe that Sarah Palin has hurt chances by stepping down as Governor of Alaska; time will tell.
If the Republican party wants to regain the presidency and congress, they need to get back to Conservatism. The progressive Republicans like Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Tim Pawlenty will alienate the Conservative base. Alienation of the Conservative base doomed John McCain. One might even conclude that Mrs. Clinton lost to Barak Obama because she alienated the Liberal base.
